China의 올림픽 보이콧 역사

에.. 티벳독립운동 유혈/과잉진압 문제때문에
인터넷이 시끌시끌 한 가운데, 중국의 말과 행동을 비웃는 글을 봤습니다.

하여 찾아봤지요.

• 1956년 대만과의 문제로 올림픽 보이콧. (정확히는 "포기"했음)

• 1960년 이건 확인할 길이 없네요. 불참했다는 것은 확실합니다.

• 1964년 역시 확인할 길은 없습니다만, 불참했다는 것은 확실합니다. 경악스러운 것은 올림픽 기간동안 중국은 첫번째 핵실험을 했다는거죠.

• 1968년 역시 불참입니다. 보이콧인지는 모르겠군요.

• 1976년 대만과의 문제로 올림픽 보이콧.

[Both the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China boycotted the games over issues concerning the legitimacy of each other. In November 1976, the International Olympic Committee recognized the People's Republic of China as the sole legal representative, with Taiwan as part of the People's Republic of China.]

• 1980년 소련의 아프가니스탄 침공에 항의하여 보이콧

[Though the Games have aimed to be an arena free of politics, the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan spurred United States President Jimmy Carter to issue an ultimatum that the United States would boycott the Moscow Olympics if Soviet troops had not withdrawn from the country by 12:01 A.M. Eastern Standard Time on February 20, 1980; the official announcement confirming the boycott was made on March 21.

The United States was joined in the boycott by some other populous countries - including Japan, West Germany, China, the Philippines and Canada. Some of these countries competed at the Olympic Boycott Games at Philadelphia. Notably, the United Kingdom, France, and Greece supported the boycott but allowed their athletes to participate if they wished (the U.S. did not). The United Kingdom and France sent a much smaller delegation of athletes than usual.]



총 3번의 보이콧과 네번의 "불참" 이 있습니다.
이 "불참" 이 의도적인 "불참" 인지 아니면 여타 사정이 있어서인지는 모르지만,
국제무대로 나타난 후 굉장히 많은 올림픽을 빼 먹었군요.


2008년 북경 올림픽　-「올림픽과 정치를 연결시키지 말아라」


라고 큰소리칠 입장은 아닌것 같습니다.
원래 Give and Take아닙니까.. ㅎㅎ

이렇게 국제무대에 나타나야 될 줄 알았겠습니까?
